Fonix nominated for Drum MOMAs award after BBC Children in Need 2016

We’re excited to announce we’ve been shortlisted for the 2017 Drum Marketing on Mobile Awards (MOMAs).

These mobile marketing awards recognise the most innovative uses of mobile technology and/or marketing and this year was particularly competitive, with a record-breaking number of entries.

We were nominated because of our mobile payments solution for the 2016 Children in Need campaign; Fonix was responsible for a UK first, as we provided the campaign with a £20 mobile text donation solution, which was used alongside the conventional £5 and £10 price points.

This was delivered through our careful coordination with the UK mobile operators and BBC Children in Need, as well as a unique technical flow.

In addition to encouraging higher donations, the £20 price point also resulted in a substantial increase in the amount raised via Gift Aid; as 25p is claimed for Gift Aid per £1 donated. The fact that so many people opted to donate £20 meant that more could be declared!

The overall result was fantastic — £7.6 million was raised via mobile, out of a total £46.6 million. We were so pleased that the £20 price point alone generated £2.1 million, which demonstrates how willing people are to donate more and that the new price point was a brilliant way to cater to this.

We’ll find out the results at the awards ceremony on 11th May — fingers crossed!
