Fonix powers Red Nose Day competitions for the chance to star in the Love Actually sequel

We are excited to announce that Red Nose Day has run competitions via Fonix’s platform, offering the chance to star in Red Nose Day Actually.

Six lucky people were selected to visit the set of the Red Nose Day Actually shoots in London, on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th March. They appeared as extras in a scene alongside Hugh Grant, Martine McCutcheon and Bill Nighy.

The 10-minute film is currently being produced to raise money for Comic Relief and there were two opportunities to get behind-the-scenes of the Love Actually special.

We provided the text service behind two competitions, with proceeds from messaging rates going to Comic Relief.

The first competition promoted on Radio One gave listeners the chance to become an extra. The winner was called and announced live on air.

The second opportunity, for the remaining five chances was promoted through Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day website and social media channels such as Buzzfeed. These winners were selected using Fonix’s winner picking tool, which chose the winners entirely at random.

Text competitions work really well when the prize is a once in a lifetime chance — it doesn’t get much better than starring alongside Hugh Grant and Liam Neeson!

This year’s Red Nose Day takes place later this month on Friday 24 March.
