Fonix is delighted to announce that we have processed £13.9 million in mobile donations for BBC Children in Need 2020 Appeal.
BBC Children in Need turned 40 this year and to celebrate a one-off £40 text-to-donate code was introduced, alongside their traditional text-to-donate price points. This new price point contributed to 10% of the overall Appeal night total, a massive £40.1 million.
For the first time ever BBC Children in Need hosted a series of text-to-donate competitions on the night, giving participants an opportunity to win great prizes such as a Toyota campervan or Gary Barlow’s personal memorabilia. These competitions, alongside music performances and exclusive sketches, helped shape a jam-packed Appeal night.
Leading up to the main night Radio 2 hosted a series of fundraising campaigns featuring text-to-donate, including an incredible 24 hour workout by Joe Wicks. Nature lovers got to immerse themselves in The Countryfile Ramble, and The Rickshaw Challenge returned virtually this year, all to raise money for the cause.
Whilst making it as easy as possible for consumers to give to charity, text-to-donate has helped BBC Children in Need raise an incredible amount of money to support children and young people facing disadvantage, at a time when it is needed most.
