Blue for Bob day is back! Edgbaston will once again be turning blue at the England v India test match in honour of the great Bob Willis, raising awareness and funds to fight prostate cancer. All in the memory of England’s captain and fourth-highest wicket-taker, best remembered for his heroic figures of 8–43 in the Ashes Test at Headingley in 1981.
Fonix is proud to be part of this amazing initiative once again and we hope that the use of mobile donations will help raise as much money as possible. Our platform will enable supporters to seamlessly charge donation payments to their mobile phone bills.
The donation price points include £10, £20, £30, and for the first time this year, £40. We will also be giving the donors the option to add Gift Aid at no extra cost. In previous campaigns we have seen up to a 58% Gift Aid claim rate, showing how effective having a mobile-friendly Gift Aid site can be.
By capitalising on our mobile marketing and data analytics, we are able to send Gift Aid reminder messages to all of those who had not provided Gift Aid declarations to drive further revenue generation and boost the campaign results. Let’s hope this year is bigger and better than ever!
The second #BlueForBob day will take place at the Birmingham ground on Saturday from 9:45am, which is day two of the rescheduled fifth Test between England and India, a game that was postponed last year due to Covid-19.
Saturday will include the #BobsBowlingZone challenge, with the Barmy Army, the Bharat Army — India’s official global supporters group — the Edgbaston crowd and special guests bowling 2,000 balls in a day. This is to represent the number of men in the stadium that day who statistics show are likely to get prostate cancer.
It will show on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Mix. You can also watch the live stream on the Sky Sports Cricket YouTube channel. Tune in to show your support and don’t forget to wear blue!
