This year, we’ll be providing the mobile payment mechanic for Stand Up To Cancer 2017, an annual Channel 4 campaign which raises money for clinical cancer research.
Via our text-to-donate platform, donors will be able to simply send a text to donate to the charity. They’ll have the option to donate either £5, £10 or £20 and this will be charged to their mobile phone bills.
First stop — The Great Canoe Challenge on 25th September. This will see an inspirational group of cancer survivors (as well as some famous faces!), attempt to canoe from Chester to Liverpool in five days.
This will be followed by a series of driver programmes on TV and radio, and a live show on 3rd November, all of which will be supported by Fonix’s text-to-donate mechanic. Stand up to Cancer has also partnered with our client Bauer Media to broadcast radio shows across their portfolio of stations in the UK.
We love working with charities, and it’s great to see that Stand Up To Cancer gets mobile like we do. Consumers trust mobile payments and love being able to pay just by sending a text message — last year, 80% of the charity’s donations were donated via mobile!
