Meet Rosalinda – Fonix’s New UX/UI Designer

11/02/2022

Today we kick off our employee spotlight with our superstar UX / UI Designer — Rosalinda Luliano. As UX/UI Designer, with a passion for design and technology, she brings a wealth of experience to the Fonix team (more than 15 years working in design for multinational companies). Rosalinda will be working to make our platforms look brilliant (and super user friendly)! This week, we sat down to talk about her role and learn how a UX / UI Designer functions in a company like Fonix.

Hi Rosalinda, welcome to Fonix!

Q: So you’re a few weeks in, how has it been so far?

A: My first few weeks at Fonix have flown by! I’ve received a warm welcome, met kind people and have already started working on some interesting projects. I’m aiming to really improve the user experience within Fonix’s platforms and am looking to inject some personality, life and vibrancy to the interface. I’m really focusing on accessibility and identifying the specific requirements of our users and I want to ensure the pages within our platforms look great, flow together and are effortless to use. I’m new to the mobile payments world but I already feel like I’m on my way to being a mobile payments pro; there’s great energy in the team and everyone is extremely helpful in getting me up to speed.

Q. How will your design expertise and experience help Fonix?

A: I love that Fonix has taken onboard a Visual Designer with an artistic background like mine; my skill set involves researching and designing interfaces that are not only more accessible but also aesthetically appealing. This really demonstrates Fonix’s commitment to adapting to our increasingly online and visual world.

Q. What do you like most about Fonix?

A: My first perception is that Fonix is like a “big family” and I think that a community working environment is one of the bases for great teamwork and a successful company.

Q. What has your career path looked like?

A: I began to draw from a young age so it became clear to me, since I was a child, that I was going to work in the creative industry. My career path has never been straight, I’ve explored many fields: painting, photography, graphics, illustration, art direction and now UX/UI!

Q. What is your proudest career moment so far and why?

A: In 2009 I founded my own studio and started to develop innovative designs for events like Ecopink — the first women-focused international exhibition in Italy. The exhibition put together examples of artefacts made by recycling industrial waste and plastic. For my commitment to ethical and eco-sustainable topics, in 2012 I received the International Award “A Mimosa for the Environment”. It’s an award that started in 1992 and is awarded to one woman who stands out for her commitment to safeguarding the environment. It was an amazing achievement, before winning this award some of my heroines (such as Vandana Shiva and Margherita Hack) have also received the same award.

Q. Before working at Fonix, what was the most interesting or unusual job you’ve had?

A: I love to take pictures of people and have previously worked as a Portrait Photographer — my camera is always ready for a good shoot!

Q. A typical weekend for you is…

A: I spend time with family and friends, bake vegan sweets and revitalise in nature.

Q. Tell us one thing people don’t know about you?

A: I’m planning to design and publish a little drawing book for children for developing imaginative skills, hand-eye coordination and having fun!

Q. 3 words to describe Fonix?

A: Dynamic, Innovative, Thriving.
