3 matches, 24 mascots, 1 charity — the Professional Cricketers’ Trust took place for a Finals Day fundraiser on Saturday 16th July.
This year’s Vitality Blast Mascot Race was brought to you by the Professional Cricketers’ Trust with supporters of the T20 Blast able to cheer on their mascot from anywhere in the world. Supporters were also in with a chance to win 2023 Finals Day tickets through mobile interactivity powered by Fonix.
With the Trust taking centre stage for Finals Day, awareness of the charity was raised with the aim to highlight the life-changing work of the charity at Edgbaston and to create funds to continue its work in being a vital support mechanism for cricket’s biggest assets, its players.
These funds were created via mobile donations throughout the event. Fonix powered a standard donation for the support of Vitality Blast 2022 using £5, £10, £20 and £30 price points to help maximise donations for the PCA.
A competition was also promoted during the famous Edgbaston derby mascot race. It was as simple as texting the first name of one of the 24 mascots to 84903 to donate £5 to the Trust and the participants were entered into a prize draw through mobile donation to win a pair of premium tickets for the 2023 Finals Day.
The day was filled with excitement and drama right up until the end where a thrilling Vitality Blast Finals Day at Edgbaston ended with Hampshire claiming a third title after a one-run win over Lancashire. Gloucestershires’ very own Alfred the Gorilla once again came out on top with a great victory.
We are delighted to be a part of this fun event and we are already looking forward to next year!
