Team Fonix gets active whilst working from home

Our Commercial Manager, Ollie Allum (and his puppy, Benson)

Here at Fonix, as a business that has moved to remote working for all our staff, we’ve had to quickly adapt to working from home and develop a routine that supports this.

Exercise is probably now more important than ever. Not only do we need to keep the body moving to stay healthy while cooped up inside, but the endorphin rush from working out will do wonders for our wellbeing — particularly in these anxiety-inducing times.

Many of the team are keen on fitness and we’re really pleased to have kicked off with our first Fonix training session.

Rewind to only a couple of weeks ago; a few of us at Fonix regularly visited Tom Whelen at More Athletic Body for his strength sessions (based around the corner from our office at Piccadilly). His 30 minute classes were the perfect length to fit into a lunch break. Long enough to feel energised, work up a sweat and still have time to shower before going back to work!

His sessions were suddenly no longer an option, until this week when he took to providing his sessions online via Zoom!

And that’s when the team at Fonix took to training as a group online.

We didn’t need lots of fancy gym equipment to push ourselves. The strength exercises that we got involved with yesterday did exactly that. All done using a dining chair / sofa and a nice cushion.

‘And here’s a quote from Clare Charles, our Account Director, on our All Staff call this morning:

“My arms and chest are in a world of pain today…please tell me it’s not just me! It feels great to be working out though, roll on the next session!”

Adding some daily fitness to your routine doesn’t need to be a hard task — there’s lots of resources online and many of these are free. The power of technology really is becoming more important than ever.
